Hope on Wheel: A Special Health Camp for Street Girls
In observance of the International Day of the Girl Child 2025
Yesterday, Global Street Connect, in collaboration with the Local Education and Economic Development Organization (LEEDO), organized a special health camp titled Hope on Wheel: Caring for Street Girls. The camp took place at the LEEDO Peace Home, bringing together young girls from the streets for a day of care, learning, and encouragement.

The initiative focused on raising awareness about girls’ health and well-being, especially during adolescence. Volunteers and physicians provided free health check-ups, counselling, and friendly group discussions to help the girls better understand self-care, hygiene, and overall wellness.
After the counselling sessions, participants received basic health check-up support and primary medicines for menstrual care, along with essential guidance on maintaining safe and hygienic practices.
Dr. Musarrat Parvin from Global Street Connect highlighted that adolescent street girls are among the most vulnerable when it comes to reproductive health. The absence of maternal care and proper guidance often affects their physical growth and well-being, leading to a weaker health foundation and increased risk of illness. She also emphasized the urgent need for more health camps focused on adolescent girls living on the streets to ensure their access to continuous care and guidance.
The camp was filled with smiles and heartfelt moments. The girls engaged in group conversations, shared their thoughts, and expressed joy through songs and laughter. For many, it was their first experience of receiving personal health care in such a warm and supportive environment.
Global Street Connect extends heartfelt thanks to all volunteers, partners, and well-wishers for making this meaningful initiative possible. Together, we continue to bring hope, dignity, and care to the lives of street-connected girls — one step, one wheel at a time.
